Hi everyone, long time lurker, first time poster. I'm planning a trip up north to check out the Kimberley around june next year and I'm hoping to get a Porta-bote for the trip and also for fishing the Swan river back in Perth.

I've searched the forums and online but can't seem to find any information about dealers in WA or pricing. I'm tossing up between the 12" for 14" as there might be 5 of us in the thing, but more likely only 3 or 4 will dare get in a boat. Does anyone know where I might be able to see one in person or a dealer that stocks them?

I'm also considering the Quickboat since it seems easier to get my hands on one of those. Either way, I won't be fishing in croc infested waters, maybe just to cruise down the river with no additional temptations hanging off the side.

GreenM, to my knowledge there is (or was) only one offical rep in Oz:

Colin Robinson B Bus CPA JP
Managing Director
Portable Boats Australia
colin@porta-bote.com.au
Mob: 0419 469223

I last dealt with Colin in Oct 2010 so hopefully he's still the one.

I got a 10'. With 5hp can only get on the plane with 2/85kg adults (but not with 3 adults) - i like the 10', can carry / set up easily on my own, but a few times have wished I had a 12'. I've seen a 14' - too big for my 4wd setup.

From what I can make out, the Quickboat is also easier to put together too.

I get mine in about 3 weeks.

Quickboats

They are just about to take delivery of a shipment from their factory. There are quite a few on back order so......
I'm glad I ain't too scared to be lazy

I had a look at those, I'm still deciding which way to go. Though if i could find a reasonably priced Porta-bote on Gumtree, that'll be perfect. hard to come by though.
