trackranger and topo maps

I have got trackranger and topo ecw usb maps which I loaded on to a lap top as per instrutions but when I try and open a mapin trackranger I get a message "toolbar unable to be loaded -unspecified error". Uninstalling everything and re loading tolaptop did not help. Any suggestions ?
