Went to Mobile One at Camden NSW to see if they could fix my reception problem in my Dmax.
I told Peter my problem and he asked a few questions and then explained what each antenna did.
We then agreed that what I needed was a an antenna that was exceptional with AM stations and acceptable with FM.
I fitted it this afternoon and took the car for a run in an area that I knew I had very poor reception. What a difference an excellent antenna makes. I now have great reception on stations I could barely hear.
I can highly recommend Peter and his team.

I couldn't agree with you more.
2 weeks ago I bought a M2W with base,cable & spring .
It was at my house the next day.
It's mounted on the bull bar & now my AM/FM reception is out standing.
A big thanks to Mobile One.

I trialed one of their first mobile phone antennas for them, a number of years ago. Great product that actually works and increases your phone range while in a phone cradle. Very friendly and professional people to deal with, and what they don't know about antennas is not worth knowing.

Don't hold us all in suspense, what did the do to fix the problem, which antenna did they recommend, is it a complete replacement or a screw on in the original position.
Thanks in anticipation

G'day Ian
After discussing the problem I got an M1P antenna and a stainless steel base that attached to the hood with a couple of grub screws. Two minor marks on the under side of the hood when I take the base off.
Basically I got Auto
barn to take the dash off for $20, then pulled the old antenna out of the radio and tucked it into a hole to put back into the radio if I need to when I sell the car.
In other words it's a complete replacement.
Further to the info above the FM reception has improved markedly as
well.
I need to chop some of the antenna off to get the car in the garage (2.4 mtr door). I will post further info late this week when I get
home.
I hope this info helps Ian.
