Floodwater still running at 4.5 metres but
well below the
bridge at
Birdsville and not over the road into town now. The road north through Bedourie/
Boulia to Mt Isa is now open (with only problems being local storms bringing various creeks up from
Boulia to Mt Isa). Road east to
Windorah has two lots of water on it and is not officially open yet but will be within few days. Road south (
Birdsville Track) is still closed with good water on it at about Pandie Pandie/Clifton Hills boundary. Maybe open (maybe) end of next week. No sandflies or mosquitos - but plenty of sticky flies - even locals are wearing fly veils. Weather nice - around 35 max and 22 min. These are Diamantina Barra (Yellowbelly)

Ruth, I have enjoyed your posts. You will have to come up with other posts to keep us entertained. e.g. how many varieties of flies you have there, how do you keep flies out of your face when your eating watermelon etc. etc.I'd rather have my bum on a beach in
Broome
Than be stuck here in this damn room.

Just don't buy seedless water mellons!! Then you'll find soft seeds and hard seeds!!

We are planning to come up for a weekend in late March for a post flood look around. Sounds like it will be worth the trip.
