I have been searching the internet but could not find reliable information on the fuel consumption of a 2002 Hilux 4x4 turbo 3.0l.

Does somebody know from own experience or could provide a link?

Thanks

Andy

Andy - Try this search;

1KZ-TE fuel consumption

Fuel consumption varies according to the particular model (SR5's and dual cabs are heavier), the tyre size, the amount and type of accessories (canopies reduce fuel consumption), the speeds you do (high speeds soak up fuel), and your driving style.

Larger diameter tyres over original size will often reduce fuel economy, despite the fact the engine is turning slower at any set road speed.

Carrying a lot of unnecessary "junk" in your vehicle is also a good way to increase fuel consumption.

Often a simple valve clearance adjustment will improve fuel consumption and power - particularly if it hasn't been done for a long time.

The factory figures for fuel consumption rarely relate accurately to real fuel consumption, because the manufacturers set up the tests to minimise "official" fuel consumption figures to increase sales.

Cheers, Ron.

Andy

Had a 2003 T/D dual cab with canopy, 16" tyres before the Ranger. Terrific vehicle. Got us into some top places. Used it to tow the camper trailer.
Cruised at 100/110km/h

Average 14.51l/100km
Best 11.95
Worst 19.06

Cheers
Greg

I have an 04 1KZN165 dual cab with the 1KZTE , fitted with an intercooler, DP chip & 3" exhaust. Driving on 31" muddies with a lot of accessories fitted so a lot of extra weight. City driving I generally get 13.5-14lt/100km with a best of 12.5.
