My 1998 Gu 2.8L has just turned over 120,000kms. I have not encountered any major problems so far and so am wondering how others who actually own a 2.8 are going?
Thanks Jim

Jim,

My 98 GU 2.8 is 2k shy of 185kms at the moment and no real dramas with her yet.. hasn't had any real major work done that i'm aware of and she's still going strong. (Fingers crossed i haven't jinxed myself now..) :D

Had a few problems with my GU 2.8....head cracked at 110 000km, luckily it was able to be fixed not replaced!....next to go was the injector pump...this had to be totally rebuilt....other than that, no complaints.....has 138 000km on the clock now and still feels good to drive...I service it every 5 000km, new oil & filter...fuel filters & air cleaner element changed every 15 000km...fingers crossed...I gave the old bus a thorough clean on the weekend & it still looks good!! ............. A load of poor quality fuel or water is a quick way to kill injector pumps (especially the modern rotary injection pumps).

Dont blame the car for th quality of fuel (gee its difficult to know what is in some of the fuel dispensed these days).

Stay with outlets with reputable & high fuel turnover outlets (like truck stops - not "service centre's" unless its a truckie haven)
