Travelling with Kids 5 - 12 Years & Teenagers

Older kids don't have the same special planning needs as for babies and young toddlers however they are easily bored. A long car trip is just about going to drive them bonkas unless you get smart and

I would love to know if anyone is currently travelling with their kids around Oz. I am currently planning to leave with my 2 (10 & &) early next year & would love to chat with others who can offer advice as the blogs I have found are now outdated.

Hi Lesley,
If you have a Facebook account there are a number of groups with families traveling and there is a reasonable amount of discussion on schooling etc. Try https://www.facebook.com/groups/FOTR.Australia/ which is under the name 'Families on the Road- Travelling Australia'.

I'm gobsmacked at the number of young families traveling around Australia now.

TAWK travelling Australia with kids is also a handy friendly facebook group
we have caught up with many visits on our around oz journey since jan 2013
after a stint in Darwin we are off again west to finish the lap with our 3 kids 12 y o boy
10 y o boy and a 6 yo princess
loving it .

Up till recently we were in a 06 Goldstream storm off rd
Great van but on short overnight trips it was easier setting up our campertrailer winding up and pulling beds awnings out so we sold the van and have gone back to a off rd camper trailer to do the west coast as it's fairly rough up here
All good :)
