Hi outthere I have a Flamingo Campervan and want to replace the 24w globes with led lighting...My ? is would I need to replace the entire 24w globe housing? The globe is basically all glass with 2 wire connection points that obviously are - +. I have 2 globes at each end with portable lights at bed ends. There is a light outside and 1 inside the front boot of van as I call it... which I hardly use. Hope someone can help.
Regards David.

Nope, just go to your local caravan accessory
shop and buy some LED replacement globes. They vary from $18 -$22 each but you can get then on ebay for a fraction of that. The power consumption is a fraction of the originals.

Hi David. Have a look at heroled store on the web, they have all the replacements you need at a fraction of the price you would pay here. I repaced all my caravan lights and use about 10% of the power the old lights used to draw. I also made sure the replacements were brighter and used cool white instead of warm white which are a much whiter light.
Cheers Graeme.

Yeh..for anybody running Dc electrical systems doing a conversion to LED is a no brainer.
There are replacement lamsp for just about every fitting you can come up with.
Sometimes however you may be better off replacing the fitting complete.
There are some realy competitive and efficient LEd light fixtures out there.
Quite often the purose built LED fixture will be more efficient and brighter than the old fitting would be retrofitted with an led lamp.
Check the electronics stores like Jaycar & Altronics, there is also the marine stores and definitely
check out EBAY...as far as the caravan shops...yeh have alook bot as soon as you say the word caravan...the price goes up.
cheers

These are the type I replaced in my Jayco Swift. One light on supplied enough lite for almost everything, including reading. Two on was excellent. from memory I think they drew about .6 of an amp, a little better the 1.5 amps incandescents draw.

I had a flamingo outback and replaced all of the lights with LEDs sourced from ebay i paid $15 for them and the power requirments for lighting went down to almost nothing.
Have since replaced the flamingo with a new sterling which has LEDs throughout.
