My brother in law just rang from the UK and told us that after a 12 month wait he will be receiving his new car next week.

More money than sense I reckon.

Don't scratch it!

Pity he didnt get to read the latest 4x4 Australia mag,he might have got a Lexus or something.
Offroad it didnt do much better than the $35k Japanese softroaders.
For that kind of money you could buy a performance car that would outrun it on the road and a offroader that will out perform in the bush/greenlanes.

Of course if you want the badge on the bonnet thats what it costs.

He just want it to go to and from work and a bit of cruising around
"oh and it snows here in winter you know!" he told me.

No, good luck to him he has built his business up from nothing he is entitled to buy what he wants. I did try to get him to buy a Lexus and send the balance here to me so I could get a new troopy.........it didn't work.

You know he was offered seveal thousand Pounds to swap delivery date with others who are further down the delivery chain.......more money than sense that lot..

you always seem to poo poo people who buy something expensive...

If i had my house paid off, and $100,000, or my company had the spare cash flow, i would, without questioning myself, buy a porsche cayenne....

Life is too short not to enjoy it, and if you have the cash, get the toys i say :)

Also you wont ever pay ya house off, AND have $100k in the bank...

Why without question? impractical car if I ever saw one! bleep Id buy 3 playdoes first, set one up as a hack, one for touring, and one for weekdays...

I would comfortably take a Porsche Cayanne up the cape.....

and if i owned the house, had a spare $4k a month turnover to blow on a lease, porsche here we come.

Practical? Who cares..... Comfort and speed... thats all that matters.

Hi Bruce & all

What's the VW V10 TD priced at in US?

That at least has a real motor in it.. imagine grafting a V10 into a Patrol or an 80 series and burn some rubber in 4WD mode..hellishly awesome...

Wil

The v10 TD is not available in the US, this is the most expensive version, has six speed transmission.

It has not sold well here,

A point to remember is that here in the US we can't get ANY diesel cars or 4WD's

No Nissan, Toyota, MB, Disco, BMW etc, the only diesels we can get are in the Chevy, Ford and Dodge truck ranges of pickups.

Notice, among other things it can tow 3.5 tonnes!
Practical or not, it's bloody impressive engineering, though I wouldn't want to pay the bill to service it.
Good luck to him - looks like a bloody nice machine. I might be able to afford/justify one next time. (Next life, that is..)
Cheers

Nice car, more status symbol than anything else. As a pom I can tell you that the off road limitations won't be a problem to him as there is very little of what I would call decent offroading to be had in the old country.

Half his luck, good on him if he's worked hard to get it.
I just couldnt help laughing about how his PCT with PASM, PTM & PSM could sit idle if his better half has PMT. He might want to go for a drive and be told to POQ.
