Hello. I am trying to find out whether
the Lost City near
Lithgow is accessible without a 4WD. I visited there many years ago with my dad (in a 4WD) but I can't remember what access is like. Thanks in advance.

I don't want to be smart but you could walk in.
I haven't to
the Lost City for a few years but it's a
well worn track to the end and wouldn't be a hard walk if you took your time.
I'm not sure what your situation is.
Steve

Fair point. I'm just trying to ascertain how close I can get in a
sedan before it becomes inaccessible.

Best bet would be to go for a drive. It's a nice place to visit.
We go up there every year for a boys weekend in October.
You've got me thinking I'll have to go back to
the Lost City.
There's some
old mine relics half way down the
hill that are pretty interesting and a couple of old dams down below.
Good luck,
Steve.

It's not particularly hard in a proper 4wd but there are some
rock steps that would pull a normal
sedan up. I wouldn't even try it in something like a Honda CRV or Toyota Rav4. You would be scraping the bottom, spinning wheels and throwing rocks everywhere in them.

I have been there a few times in my Patrol. I have seen a raised Subaru come through. I wouldn't go there in a
sedan.

I live in
Lithgow and have explored that area extensively if you travel further west on the main Bungleborri road and take the next fire trail you can get a normal vehicle to 100mts from the end of the road . This is at the west side of "
Lost City and has better
views .
Check out Topo Map.
If interested i will
check the number of the power pole on the road that you turn off on.
