After 5 months on the road and numerious burgers i have found a place where a burger with the lot is just that.Planet Earth Adventures at Mt Surprise on the Savannah Way.I have been to the tip of Australia, down the Bloomfield track and plenty of other places. They all claim to have great burgers(bull bleep ).At Mt Surprise your burger is a fresh toasted bun, with fried onions, beetroot, tomatoe, lettuce, cheese, bacon, pineapple, egg, carrot and a nice big tasty meat patty, not to mention saurce.I may have left stuff out on whats in it but it is one hell of a meal.Without squashing it you can not get it into your mouth. To make it even better it is under $10.
So for all the road houses on the PDR unless your burger has all these ingredients in them they are not with the lot.
To Geoff B from WA im looking forward to trying the burger on the Gibb River Road that you reackon are the best.
Bye all, this burger is worth stopping for and trying.

Hi guys,

The Tjukayirla burger at Tjukayirla Roadhouse is a ripper.

This monstrous creation from Al and Serena will just about have your stomach dragging on the ground!

Sadly though Al & Serena finished up at the roadhouse there on Friday just gone, and have moved elsewhere now....you'll have to compare the new managers burger next time you're out there and tell us how they stack up.

Thanks Rumpig for the update - They've been back twice that I know of maybe they'll be back in few years.
I'm sure the new managers will do the recipe proud.

The Thargomindah roadhouse makes a pretty good burger with an organic mince patty - no nasty dubious, flat little thing in their burgers! Toni

Drysdale River Station on the GRR to Kulumbaru road. Held together with a skewer because of the sheer height. Ingredients too many to remember.
Only a good size croc could get that in it's mouth...yummmm.

Yep the Drysdale station burger was the one that did it for us also.
We to have been to the Tip, across the centre, across the top and over the Nullabor. On our trips we have tried a few burgers but the one at Drysdale Station is still #1

Actually $18 when we were at Drysdale about 3 months ago, which sounded a bit steep until we saw one and tried it.

The best veggie burgers have chilli sauce. Not many people know that, especially those people who sell them...

X 2. A burger or a steak sanga is not a burger or steak sanga without beetroot.

We were told on by a fellow exploroz member, when asking info on cape arid, that we should make sure we have a burger at Condingup tavern.. Wow.. Had it all.. Had to squash it down with two hands to be able to take a bite, I'm 6'3" , my wife Sue, had no chance... Best burger. We told them we were from over east, and had heard on the internet about their burgers. Great to see the reaction. Happy eating. Cheers

Don't forget the famous "Buxton Burger " Guys.

From Buxton Igloo roadhouse in Buxton vic.
Great warm meal when dropping down from the snow line.

This is where the stars ate in fifties when they were making that film about the end of the world called "On the Beach".

Must have been the first ever disaster film.

The owner looked at me sideways when I asked him to change the meat pattie for a vegie one but it didn't up as another disaster.

Well, that sounds tasty Stuart, but if you want the best "......with the Lot" then you'll have to take a left and come back to Mungerannie!!!

Their "with the Lot" is a substantial feast, so big it needs scaffolding to hold it together. You're advised not to take it outside as it may interfere with aircraft on approach at local airstrip. :-)

And if you're not that hungry, then can also recommend a normal burger, done with a sour dough bun. Simply scrumptious!!!

Can't remember most of it.

The 'Wambi Whopper' from the takeaway at Wamberal, NSW. It is so good, Hungry Jacks even sued them to prevent them using the word 'whopper'. For weeks HJ's website was bombarded with "the burgers are smaller at Hungry Jacks .. try a Wambi Whopper", just to stick it to them. Hungry Jacks later withdrew the action.

The Wambi whopper also has beetroot. (See earlier post).

A burger isn't a burger unless it has a home made mince patty, no frozen crap, well cooked bacon, egg, pineapple, carrot, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, onion, barbie sauce and a toasted bun.. Theres not many around that take the time and energy to make their own patty, most just buy them in frozen.

Hopefully the new managers keep up the tradition of the Tjuka burger

Cheers
Al

(P.s i need a new log in...lol)

Ballina Burger! If you're transiting the Ballina area you MUST stop at the airport and get a burger in the terminal. I fly into Ballina quite regularly with work and always get one.
They have the lot, including beetroot, bacon and egg: $7.00

G'day all

The roadhouse at Pack Saddle between Broken Hill and Tiboburra used to do a great burger but the place may have changed hands - it's been a few years now.
