Hi guys. Ive recently bought an old Jayco dove (mid/late 80s model) that im doingnup for the Mrs ans I to do some travelling in. The fridge on board is marked as being a Chescold Chesco C100. It is supposedly a 3 way fridge (which was a major reason I got the van). Running on 240v and gas, she works great! .... But im having issues with the 12v. Inside the door is a list of instructions for running on all 3 settings. For 12v cooling it says to flick the 12v switch to on mode - I can't locate the switch, nor have I found anything resembling a 12v wiring system entering the fridge.

Anyone got any ideas on what im missing? Or have I got a dud thats really only a two way?????
Thanks heaps
Toby

Hi Toby,
Maybe the fridge has never been wired for 12 volt. We once bought a Viscount with 3 way dometic, previous owner warned us never to leave on 12 volt ( .flattens battery in short time) .Well it never got cold on 12v weather travelling or testing.
Fridge had never been fitted with element or wiring from new. Fitted them and presto cold beer .
Good luck,Cherry.

Hi cherry,
Where did you get the element from? Was it expensive to have fitted?

I have an older model which works great on gas, 12V never really impressed me, so only use it on gas and have a compressor fridge for 12v applications.

Toby I1,
The 12V wiring (if there is any fitted) will be seen at the back of the fridge, so you will need to pull off the lower plastic vent panel on the outside of the Dove and check this. If there is no 12v wiring or heating element fitted, then you have found the problem.
Hope that helps.
