I have it on my phone and iPad. Very happy with both set ups. I have since 2008 and this year received an update from the site. Great for hiking and road travel.

Hi

Just to clarify for everyone the OP is referring to the Hema 4WD app and not the Hema Explorer app which is different. I assume Mark is also referring to the Hema 4WD app.

Here is a comparison...Hema Navigation App Comparison

If having a discussion about the "Hema App" it is important to specify which one you are referring to as they are quite different in many respects.

Cheers
Greg

Robert,

I've had the Hema app on my iPad(3G/wi-fi model)for over 18 months, and use it regularly. Recently did the free upgrade, and think it's now even better, with the extra maps supplied.

Seems to work well in a vehicle, and will quickly find your position. What I like about it is, you can easily refer to a map, to find out where a place, or road is, that's been mentioned on EO.

Don't know about any negatives?

NTVRX

Been using it for a while now. Very happy with it, and rarely use OziExplorer any more as this does most of the things I am ever likely to need. I'd seriously question the veracity of the negative comments. Can you provide a link to them?

Bob

I have it and love it, but to clarify, you have to have the iPad with 3G capability (even if you don't buy the sim) as it won't work without it.

Hi

You can run bluetooth gps on ipads with no inbuilt gps (i.e. non 3g, wifi only models). I assume the "hema app" will work under these circumstances or are you suggesting otherwise?

Cheers

Greg, I am not up on these things but asked the same question last year and this was the advice I received so I was passing it on to avoid disappointment. If there is another way then that is great! Cheers, Fraun

Hi,
I have the HEMA on an iPad. I don't have the 3G iPad version so I bought a GNS 2000 bluetooth GPS unit and although I haven't used it that often I did happen to use it this morning and it works great, got me back on track in no time!
If you search on GNS 2000 I'm sure you'll find one.

Cheers
