Two weeks ago I had a oil spill on the driveway after a oil change.

Thank you to all that replied. The kitty litter soaked up the bulk of the oil and the cement powder did the rest.
The stain has now gone, which keeps the Minister for Home Affairs happy. With the tips I also got from this forum a oil spill should not happen again.

did you just lay the kitty litter on or did you heat it up in the oven first?

Steve,

Ran out of freshly laid kitty litter so had to buy free range stuff from the shop.
Did not think of heating it up first, good idea.

wayne,

I saw that on one of those boring home improvement tv shows by accident. aparently if you heat it up really hot in the oven it increases its absorbency(is that a word?) , good for sucking oil out of concrete thats been there for years.

LOL!

Did you remember to remove the kitty first?

Seriously though.. For really tough stains, there's nothing better than mercuric acid.

It basically eats the concrete....

Kev,

Gone enough to keep the Minister For Home Affairs happy. I would say 99% gone. The cement dust has been down for some time now and only picked up the bulk of it when it started to rain.
