G'day it's the Old Dog here, I've been told you can't take a caravan up to
Nhulunbuy. Can anyone confirm this and if it's right can you tell me why.

Its true Old Dog. The road alone would destroy anything but a
well built off road van. Once there,,,there is no where to set a van up! It is all aboriginal land off the town centre. Bitumen road from airport to town and then to the
mine site or Drimmie Heads , then that's it.
Nhulunbuy is basically a mining town. I have driven the road many times and it is a pain when rough. Camper trailers can be taken in but permits are required and a destination point must be given. Most stay in the lawns of the Walkabout Hotel with prior bookings being made.
