Hi beaver
Gum Bend Lake is man made but is a very nice area next to the river and a few k's out of town, used for water skiing and fishing

It has hot showers and used to be free camping.

Used to be free Honky? Is it not free now? It shows as free on the Council webpage.

It pays to check, with so many campgrounds implementing fees.

We stayed there, for free, last year, there were about 6 other rigs there. The showers
are indeed hot, & you can walk around the lake if you so wish. A nice camp, the peace broken only by the odd train on the adjacent line..cheers....oldbaz.

Yep, agree with Oldbaz, we stayed there last year also, was free at that time.
Nice flat grassed area, you are able to replenish you water there.
From memory about 2 -3 ks out of town.
Cheers.
