Stu & "Bob"
A new Museum has just opened here in
Cairns.
The Australian Armour and Artillery Museum is located on the Northern side of
Cairns.
I went across for a visit today, and got lost in there for a few hours.
No affiliation, but worth a visit if you are in
Cairns.

What relationship does
Cairns have with the broader Artillery and Armoured communities?
As an ex-APC Reservist, I wasn't aware that
Cairns was up there. I'd have expected Wodonga or somewhere similar.

3cav was relocated to
Townsville from Holsworthy after Nam and I believe before they again moved to NT. So not sure what the connection is but I for one will have look when i'm there next year. Ex 3cav myself. Cheers Errol

I thought 'drop shorts' were 9mile snipers., Not Cav.
Cheers,
Bill

Re location and relativeness to any military ties.
I don't think this is an official sanctioned museum, but a purely private enterprise.
Pretty impressive list of items on display, but the coming soon page is even better.

I'd certainly
check it out if I was in the region, you don't get the opportunity to see much "foreign" armoured vehicles in Australian museums. The exhibits they have listed for the next 12-18 months look interesting

How good is that, doesn't matter where it is, but more power to the vets.
Cheers.
