Hey all,

Ill be getting either the Icom 440N or Uniden 8060NB UHF radios fitted to my vehicle in the next week or so, and wondering if people had any opinion on either option.

Ive been told the Icom is the best of the best that is currently available, but that the Uniden is also a good option for less money.

They'll be using the same antenna either way (6db ground independent), so that isn't a variable. Im more concerned about opinions of the unit itself, issues, praise etc.

Cheers,
Lewis

Go the Icom, my mate runs them and swears they are the best, apparently they can be hacked and made more powerful which is illegal by the way.

I have had uniden cordless phones and found they are useless, I know they are a different product but I despise uniden.

And while I remember Aldi have some for $100 and they are 80 channel, I find most aldi products great especially with their 60 money back guarantee!

I have the uniden, and use it every day for work. Have had no issues in the 9 months it has been in the car. Clear speaker, and remote mic/speaker are very handy.
In saying that, I have had the icom400 in a past car, and that provided 6 years of trouble free service. If it is longevity you are after, I would spend the extra $$ on the icom.
