What a load of rubbish. Camper trailers do not cause damage to the desert. Inexperienced drivers with tyre pressures too high and four wheel drive not engaged plus other idiots racing up the dunes, spinning tyres in their haste to get to the top then braking as they go down the other face of the dunes. Yes, lots of reasons that dunes are damaged and none of them can be blamed on unpowered camper trailers.

Camper trailers should be banned - the environment would be better off without the 140,000 tonnes of green house gas emissions it takes to produce each trailer. Take a sleeping bag instead of a bedroom. Take a one burner stove instead of Jamie Oliver's kitchen. Don't shower for 3 days rather than use of a power shower in a popup shower room and soap on a rope.

Good idea Fred. 4wds should also be banned and save another 850,000 tons of greenhouse gas.

You should stay home for the environment.

Oh, get of that computer you are using, there is obviously only hot air coming out of that too. Best you stick with your soap on a rope, it's better for everyone involved.

Yep Fred, I agree.

In future all areas accessible to both two wheel and four wheel drives shall only be accessible to nude hikers. Thus preventing any use of any man made product or by product. I am glad common sense has prevailed.

"only be accessible to nude hikers"

Agreed, as long as methane emissions can be effectively sequestered

Never had a problem pulling a camper through the Simpson and I have seen a lot of people not towing have difficulties where we have got through with little effort.

Trailers don't wreck the tracks and nether does tyre pressure, the biggest cause of damage is nature and inexperience.

You are right Olcoolone but I think the biggest single issue is the way they pack the car mostly the bit they put between the seat and the steering wheel that causes most damage
Cheers Kev

LOL this thread has to set the world record for the OP sending his own thread 100% off topic with a stupid comment in the original post. The distraction has completely overtaken the comments.

I guess the OP is getting the respect he deserves with lame comments like that.

Yeah wasn't sure what he was trying to tell us. Oh I spent 2 and a half weeks crossing the Simpson which most people take less than a week to do. Or that he hired a sat phone which everybody does. Or that he was having a whinge about trailers in the desert. I guessed it was the latter as he SHOUTED about that one so I responded accordingly LOL
