I have friends who (hopefully!) travelled through that way a few days ago but they're out of mobile phone range still...best bet is to call into the
police station to
check on the road conditions...nobody knows the roads (or has contacts) like an outback cop, and
Birdsville's is no exception!
The pub is always a good bet too-there'll be someone who's come through that way-but having the
police know your whereabouts can sometimes be a lifesaver.

Thanks Robyn4 - we always
check with people around us and especially the
police station in B'ville. Just thought on checking before we leave
home. Had been told it was in terrible shape two weeks ago but as you can appreciate can change very quickly. Thanks again. Jinki

Came through there a week ago. No problems at all. Having said that just be careful of lose gravel on the corners. Cheers Brian.
