The closest one will be Newmarket which is very close to the CBD.

wickham terrace is right in the middle of the city.......there is not a caravan park for miles....lots of high priced hotels......a few very close...like next door....and some more modest establishments.

the ibis down on turbot street is a modest but reputable hotel

public transport is reasonable though..but some walking may be required.

all the street parking is on meters.

I don't know the north side too well.....but it would be a fair step to any CVP on the southside.....the nearest on the southside would be at cannon hill.....and its a stiff walk to the train station.

cheers

Blue,

I've stayed in the Ibis, that Bantam mentions, on Turbot St. Couldn't have been too bad as I've forgotten what it was like. :-)

There was another place not far from here on George St, but looking at Google Earth, I'd say it's been demolished.

Hope you find something suitable,

Bob

If you are visiting a patient in hospital for an extended period try contacting the hospital. They may be able to recommend reasonably priced accommodation within reach - some city hospitals have these arrangements. You could also try the Brisbane Tourist Information Centre. There is, of course, plenty of expensive accommodation in the city! If you have a van with you and need a caravan park the best bet would be to stay out of town on a decent transport route. The same location probably applies to any budget accommodation! It is best to not rely on driving in to Wickham Terrace - it is right in the city with very expensive and scarceparking - hospital parking is also scarce and expensive. Lynne

Just got home after attending St Andrews. We stayed at the Spring Hill Central Apartments for 10 nights, $1,400.00 total. Not as cheap as a caravan park but it was a great spot. It also depends on how long you need. Free city loop bus stop at the front, heaps of food outlets a small grocery store nearby. And depending on your situation you may be able to make a claim via the government travel assistance program. Kevin
