Hello. Purchased an ex booze bus. VW lt35. This has two air cons, both running (separately) off the engine. The rear one I want to run off 240 volt-only and all at the rear of the van. Possibly underneath? what HP 240 volt motor do I need. Thanks Joe

To do it properly you need a 7-8 hp motor (based on R134a refrigerant) and you also need a 240 volt to 12 volt 25-40 amp constant duty power supply (or battery charger) to drive the evaporator fan, condenser fans and compressor clutch coil.
If the system uses R404a refrigerant you will need a 9-10 hp motor.
You will then have to get the 240 volt electrics certified.

Hello, you will need to much HP to run the engine driven unit, previous poster is in the correct area for HP i feel, or about 50amp power needed with 240v, you will also need to add fans, recommend you buy a household air conditioner, much cheaper to run, quiet and will probable end up costing less that a big electric motor , see my question on the
forum about " Air Conditioner,
home type split " , air con running off a honda generator , some interesting info been posted there about doing it to my caravan.
