Creb Track conditions

Hi all,

Great site here with lots of valuable info. I'm planning to do the creb track this weekend and I'm after some info on the current conditions. I've checked the Douglas Shire website and also rung them and apparently the track is open, however, I've heard anecdotally that big red is impassable currently. Looking at my maps, I don't see how part of the track could be impassable and the rest is open. I'd also like to know how boggy it is, seems like it's been pretty dry up that way lately.

Anyone here done the track this year that can provide a quick condition report?

Thanks.

I did it in late September, it was as dry as a fried chip...so unless there has been rain thru there this month, you should be fine...enjoy the dust..!

Didn't do it myself but was up Cape York a few weeks back, spoke to a couple of people who had done it in September and as wholehog says apparently it was good and dry. There hadn't been any rain when I left the Cape two weeks ago, so unless there has been some in the past fortnight you should be all good.

Ben,

I did the CREB on Saturday (25th) and also 3 weeks ago (long weekend), no issues as there has been little rain. very little mud, no major problems north or south.
The Bloomfield is rougher in some places.

I live in Cairns and mate the tablelands and North of here are as dry as. You,ll have no worries. Was at Daintree 2 days ago and bugger all running water in creeks..

good luck.

You can choose to take on big red or you can take the chicken by-pass that runs beside it. The track is very easy in dry conditions.
