I never lend (not in any order) My wife, my tools, my money, my vehicles or the books I want to keep.

Promises are like a big pipe, very hollow.

I agree completely - and when I borrow stuff I always return it - because if I do, the lender cannot say no when I want to borrow something else. :-)

He never lends tools except to me.

Shakespeare also wrote "neither a lender nor borrower be".

Good on ya for being so generous Maverick.

We have just returned from an 8 month trip around Australia with my wife and two kids. I was constantly blown away by the generosity of those we met on the road.

Whilst we were free camping at a roadside stop near Augathella QLD, a retired couple lent me their audio copy of Len Beadell's "Blast from the Bush". 5 hrs and 45 mins of good listening - a lifetime memory of two of the nicest people we could ever meet. All after knowing them for less than 1/2 an hour.

They treated my boys like their own grand kids (I think they really missed their own), cooked them pancakes for afternoon tea, bacon and eggs for breakfast and threw stones at a tree for nearly an hour.

So glad and privileged we met them! And yes the CD's are in the mail back to Neville H of Rye VIC.

I really hope you get your book back soon

Cheers
