Hi all..Have surplus stock of Castrol diesel engine and would like to use it on the petrol wagon. Any trouble with that? The diesel engine oil is lower viscosity but have a wider SW number.
Cheers :)

Hi Wil
I am sure others will correct me, but in past life driving buses, diesel oil has a high detergent content which can clean petrol engines
well. Some of the drivers were stealing the oil from work (we were allowed to buy in oil at a greatly reduced cost), the boss knew, but said nothing two of the petrol engines died as a result of the oil cleaning away too much carbon,
Ray
PS I am sure someone with a diesel will swap the oil for you

Hi guys
The reply I got from Castrol. Took them a while but it's good to know that anyway..
Hi Wil.
Thanks for your e-mail enquiry regarding the correct lubrication for
your Suzuki Jimny.
Castrol RX Super will destroy your catalytic converter prematurely.
As Suzuki specifies a 10W/30 oil, Castrol Magnatec would be the retail
grade required.
If you have any further enquiries, please contact the Technical Helpline
on 1300 557 998,

I ended up using Synthetic oil for the Jimny instead of the RX Super plus (I must add, the RX Super is fantastic for the diesel)
Cheers

Will,
most of the modern oils off the shelf are multi grade multi task products which can be used in all sorts of motors. What is the product that you have on hand ? as a Castrol dealer in the Agricultural industry we can confirm if it is suitable for you petrol.

Hi Andre
I have a 20ltr tub of RX super plus which I bought for my diesel cruiser and have recently aquired a Jimny 1.3ltr petrol. Which is due for a service.
Mate has actually put the RX super plus into his petrol cruiser before christmas and been on a big trip. His comment was the oil remain clear for a long time..??
The oil was terrific for the diesel but I wasn't sure if it was a good idea for the petrol, hence this query.
Cheers
Wil
