has anyone had any dealings with these people? their prices seem reasonable, and they have a second hand section, which, although it hasn't been updated for quite a while, has a tx4400 listed for $299.

I have dealt with Andrews Communications since the early 80's(I guess) on 6 or 8 occasions. He was originally in Garden St Maroubra and then I think he moved around the corner and now I think he is at Greystanes.

I remember that during the CB days he was one of the guys who would tune up and modify CB's so more channel could be selected. He also did repairs and sold high level amateur radios and receivers etc.

I bought a UHF from him via mail order and it was delivered to Nelson Bay in 2 days this was 3 years ago and I would not hesitate to deal with him again.
I remember him being a quiet fellow who needed to be "pumped" for info.

He does know what he is takling about and has been around a long time.

I 've heard some very unpleasent things about his after sales service but I'm prepared to give anyone a go so I purchased a radio from him last week. He was quite nice on the phone and the radio was delivered in two days via normal mail. Apparently he has a very well stocked shop and imports a lot of radio gear from the states undercutting the local agents and advertised a 3yr warrant on the radio I purchased but nothing came in writing..Ha!

Ok cockers, go to google groups, do an advanced search, search on ANDREWS in the AUS.RADIO.AMATEUR.MISC group and see what some had to say just last week I think it was.

Gday
Bought an ameture radio (President 2510) off him a decade ago or so.....had no problems with it...it was modified (as an earlier post mentioned) to produce more wattage (12 vs 4), and worked very well.
