I have just purchased and installed a IC-F7000 and was looking for information on what GPS unit I could plug in . I cannot find anything on the ICOM site as to specs. Can someone give me some info on the GPS , Can I use a third party GPS ant or does it need some electronics to make it work. Thanks.

From the user manual:
"GPS CONNECTOR [GPS]
Input position and UTC data (NMEA0183 ver. 2.0 or
3.01 format), such as from a GPS receiver for set-
ting your positioning and time data automatically."
Any of the elcheapo GPS receivers on Ebay supporting the above
protocols ie NMEA0183 ver. 2.0 should work ok, you'll just need to figure out
the required cabling and settings.
Try talking to ICOM they might be able to give you a wiring diagram to suit.
