About to purchase a forester. Will only be doing light off road work much the same as my old L series wich has low range. What are the advantages / disadvantages of auto or low range manual.

Cheers

Had an auto Forester. Loved it. Went places the manufature never intended, I'm sure. Now grown up (bigger 4WD).
Any auto is better in sand & snow than a manual. The auto is better up steep hills (yes, that's right !) due slippage in the torque converter gives even LOWER gearing than the slightly lower low range transfer box on the manual. My opinion only - of course.
