Surely the Shell/Coes or Caltex/Woolies will be open

Er, at a Service station?

You are a bit light on for relevant details Laurie, but I assume you are actually asking which (if any) of the service stations in Broken Hill may be open on Christmas day and what hours they may be operating in?

Here is some contact details for Service Stations in Broken Hill.
Perhaps ring them to find out their operating hours on the big day.

Now seeing you can't use a telephone I have taken it upon myself to spend 15 seconds of my day helping someone out so I kindly telephone the Coles Express Service Station at 164 William St Broken Hill NSW 2880 on your behalf and found out they open at 5am and close at midnight on the 25th of December 2014.

If this doesn't fit into you scheduled, repost here and I will telephone another one for you.

And have a super xmas.

Olcoolone! Can you ring my sister and tell her I said Merry Xmas?? It will save me a phone call and a penny saved is a penny earned. You'll find her quite pleasant, thanks and regards, Michael :))

I despise telephones as I spent 40 odd years in that industry. S'pose it did enable me to make enough coindexter to retire and travel this great country. Thanks olcoolone for making that phone call. I did relent and ring that very service station, only to have it ring out without answering. Perhaps they only take one call a day and you were it.

Thanks olcoolone. Not having seen your reply (there were no replies when I went to bed last night) I asked someone who lives nearby to check this morning.

Laurie, this is the servo on the Highway through Broken Hill at the corner of Williams and Bromide Street.

Having needed to organise fuel for Christmas Day in rural Western Australia some years ago, things have changed. The best I could do then was find a roadhouse that was open to midnight Christmas Eve.

Travel safely at a time of the year I prefer to stay off the roads.

The man at the Hill has been out checking more for you Laurie; the Caltex corner of Oxide and Beryl Streets will be open 7 am to 12 midday.

The Woolworths outlet will be closed.

Both the Coles/Shell and the Caltex take cards and will be open for all fuels.

Yes, but if one person asks there are probably a number of others with the same question who will be helped. My contact was willing to walk around town to gather this for all readers.

Thank you very much Motherhen and your contact at the Hill. Will be travelling from Cobar to Yunta that day and if at the Hill before the Caltex closes they will get my business, not the Shell as they would not take my call. My final destination is Arno Bay for some Snapper fishing. Hopefully Bigfish has not beat me to them. Merry xmas all.

At least it made me fell all nice and fuzzy knowing I helped someone out today..... all I can say is pity the others after you as I have done my one good deed for the day and that's it.

Michael..... I phoned you sister but she didn't want to accept reverse chargers...... it was from my Inmrasat phone.

Yes it pays to always check fuel availability but Broken Hill is a major country town and they work on city opening hours.

Olcoolone! That doesn't surprise me about the reverse charges, every time I ring her and the operator asks if she will accept the charges, she hangs up. She is such a tight wad, I have seen her jump her front gate to save the hinges! Michael

yes and best of all they finally dropped the price of unleaded to $1.37 not sure about Diesel fuel but it is cheaper than last week

Yunta is often close to us or cheaperin price but it is few hours and couple of hundred ks down the road so Broken Hill will be the only place to get fuel the small road house between us and yunta will probably be closed
