After importing a gpx file (eg
Camp 6 locations)- how do I then 'close' that file, or at least 'hide' that
information on the map, so it doesn't clutter the map ???

Hello
Find the Waypoint Menu (Under "File" Menu) and choose "Delete All Wp's".
Waypoints
This doesn't delete the original file ...just removes them from the screen. HOWEVER be aware that any waypoints you have created/edited yourself and not saved to a file will be lost using this method. So if you have been creating waypoints make sure you you save your data before
clearing data loaded to screen.
