Not tech savvy at all , so if anyone knows if it's worth trying to get updates for this GPS that is in a truck we have just bought. It maybe too old to worry about or it could be OK ?
I'm unsure but think it could be about 9-10 years old , which makes it a dinosaur in the tech world. Any would be good.

Cheers

Pothole.

This is definitely an old girl. I had one in around 98 just after they hit the market. My old man sold them through his 4wd business in Gosford. His buy in price was about $1500 from memory!
Garmin no longer offer support for these units.....plus they are incredibly slow when compared to today's tech.

Plus you can buy a whole new nunit for less than the maps would cost for that if available.

I remember them being $2400 in NZ when new

I still use one of these in my little zook + whenever we go touring i mainly use it for stats, etc, that is - Speed; Direction; Driving Time; Stopped Time; Avg Speed, etc. I also have shonkymaps loaded on as these still have some advantages in remote areas.....
The unit is a bit slow if u fully load it up with maps, but as I said, I mainly use it as a speedo and recording stats as it seems to be that bit more stable than my Garmin Nuvi. I find the garmin Nuvi sometimes has a bit of a hiccup and indicates that my top speed is 300kms/hr.... I also found this with my Montana GPS.... not sure if its the satellites or what.....
Cheers..... RobM
