We are looking for alternatives to putting the cats in a cattery etc in future trips. Most would be less than a month as I have monthly immune cell infusions.

We have in the past used family but they are now 13 going on 18 and seem to want to "sit" with their friends more so these days. Even though we paid them. Ah well that's teenagers for you. I once was one so I know.

Anyone have any recommendations for a sitter who would visit at least once a day to feed etc our two burmese cats? And please lets not go ferral.

Please feel free to PM me or give me an email address so that I can contact you off-line to protect anyone's privacy.

We used one of the in home pet sitting mobs last year for 5 weeks while overseas.
It's a risk using a stranger but we had no other choice, 2 indoor burmese cats and one outdoor moggie.
We met the person a couple of times and felt as comfortable as you could be.
She came twice a day and it cost only $40 each day. The family dropped in randomly to check as well and we were very happy with the service provided by her. This included a text every couple of days confirming all good.
Maybe check these bods out and see if you can find one local to you who think you would be ok with.

I have done that before and read some of the "maaarvelous" reviews and feedbacks.

I was hoping to get a personal report from someone that actually knew or used one. Anyone can add a review to a site!!! If you get my meaning.

Thanks

Phil,

Have you considered using a housesitter - security for the house and care for the pets. We found two good ones recently and had to turn one, a Canberra couple, down. If the timing's right these people might suit your needs - lovely couple, they are retired/semi retired, sharing their house with married kids and wanting to give the kids a bit of parent-free time. MM me if you'd like contact details, or start searching Aussie House Sitters.

Cheers

John

Hi John

Welcome to 2015.

Yes but decided just the cat sitter would be fine. We may only want someone for a short time.

Thanks

We use a business called 'The Cat Lady'. Andrew comes comes around and feeds our two cats, changes cat litter, attends fish pond, puts bins out and waters some plants. Costs are quite reasonable. Very reliable, but you need to be clear on what you expect him to do.

Will PM some more details.

Our friend Judith runs a cat-sitting service, mostly on the south side of Canberra; she's based in Yarralumla.

Thanks Keir I will look at her site.

So I noticed 25/Jan/1987 at 09:32 on 80m. The old Smartlog still works.

Sold the HF rig a few years ago, but occasionally get out the VHF. Mostly use the UHF CB in the car these days when travelling but the "quality" is not the same. Keir VK1KKM

All my radios are not working. Switched off in 2000 and it looks like the caps are dry. Hated that every time I went on air all people chatted about were bloody computers. I worked in, around and with them since 1970 and got sick of being asked about them. No worries. I am just trying to figure out how to dispose of all the gear including a Collins 30L1 amp.

One of our cats was never the same after the last trip and lost heaps of weight while she was "looked" after. She ended up with liver and kidney failure and had to be put to sleep. Not going back there. So we will be extremely "picky". Need reliable recommendations as well. I have asked the local club to put a notice in their mag so we shall see.

Thanks Keir
