Currently closed according to our Road Conditions report for NT - Top End. It is managed by the Darwin Region of the National Parks & Wildlife. See Permits page on ExplorOz (under Trip Planning menu) for a phone number.

Douglas Hot Springs is about 8Km off the Douglas/Daly road. Turnoff about 35Km down douglas Daly road from the old Stuart Highway,
now known as Dorat Road. It is the bypass road between Adelaide River township and Hayes Creek Wayside Inn. Approx 200Km from Darwin by road.

Bush camping, Generator and non-generator areas, Pit toilets, and fresh water on tap. ( Beaut water too, no chlorine, minerals etc. Get a soap lather up and you carn't get rid of it.)

Camping costs from memory $7.00 per adult per day.Honesty Box system. Contractor will check you out about 7AM each day.
Limited firewood. Contractor empties bins and drops off firewood daily, but is better if you bring in your own. Pleanty of dead trees etc on way in on Douglas Daly Road and begining of Road. None available from Hot Springs Turnoff to Hot Springs. Be warned. Get your wood early.

Access from Douglas Hot Springs to Butterfly Gorge, 4 x 4 only, subject to road being open. No camping @ butterfly Gorge, but a great place to visit.

Hot Water!!! Lagoon is @ 62c, spills over into Douglas River, which can be cold! for the tropics. You move around in the water till you find the right temprature for you.

Popular long weekend camping spot for Darwinites.

Closest store Douglas Daly Caravan Park and Camping Site, formally the Corn Patch. Is in the Douglas Daly road about 8Km past the Douglas hot Springs turn-off. Has Fuel (ULP & Diesel only) Ice, Beer, and limited groceries. Next closest fuel etc is Hayes Creek Wayside Inn, or Adelaide River Township.

Cheers Nick.
