Just a word of warning to folks who are thinking about sourcing a "pre-loved" satphone.
Our satphone and some other gear was stolen at a
Hervey Bay caravan park last year and we blocked both the handset and the SIM immediately so neither can be used.
If you are offered a handset be sure the
check its IMEA. This is the unique International Mobile Equipment Identifier that all mobile devices have, and it's displayed when you enter *#06# then press the send or call button.
You can
check if a handset has been stolen by entering the IMEA on the amta.org.au web site although I understand this is not totally infallible.
And by the way, if anyone comes across a Pivotel 9555 satphone with IMEA 300115010370100 that's
mine!! Please report it via
Police Link on 131444 and quote Crime Number QP1400747759, thanks, TonyB
