I have just purchased a Gx 2012 Prado and have been wondering what the carrying capacity including the roof rack would be. Our local Toyota people say its 100kg but they did seem anIt u sure. Can anyone help,thanks guys sooo much. This is a great

If you want the correct answer, read the owners handbook.
A vehicle only 3 years old should still have it in the glovebox, if it's not there I'd be a bit suspicious when buying such a vehicle.

He was not after your view if the Prado has hand book or not
and he was not seeking you approval with his vehicle purchase.
He only wanted sound advise on the load limit on the roof racks.

100 kgs on the roof. That will assume you are using all 6 feet for the rack and that the rack is rated for that amount. I also assume that your GX does not have roof rails (GXL has rails).
So how much does a roofrack weigh? If you go for a Rhino platform rack, you might end up with 25-30kgs of roofrack before you put stuff up there. Thats not too bad.
Put a fullsize steel rack up there and you might be looking at 60kgs before you load it.

For off-roading Rhino recommend you don't go over two thirds of the max.
