Planning on going north on
Googs Track in mid-late March. Has anyone travelled the track recently to tell me what the conditions are like? My partner has been reading some comments and maybe it isn't worth it?

Hi
Clare
In March it will still be quite hot out there still and the sand will be still very soft. Make sure that you keep your tyre pressures right down and make sure that you have a sand flag on and scan your UHF just in case others are out that way.
The taller dunes (nothing compared to the Simpson) are in the northern section of the track.
Cheers
Stephen

Hi Parso
It's all OK, as
Clare did say that they will be travelling North on
Googs Track.
Cheers

Hi
Clare,
As said before conditions will not be the best mid to late March.
Just for a little sneak preview you may like to read
my blog on The Binns Track from Mt Dare to
Tennant Creek. We had previously driven the section north of here.
Let us know how your trip goes.

Fabulous trip, but we did it in June last year, so can't comment on the March conditions.
Some of the dunes were pretty soft on top even in June, so I guess that would be more the case in warmer months - but having said that we managed fine with a TVan in tow and low tyre pressures.
Others in our group certainly needed to use the MaxTrax a few times, and be snatched over a couple of dunes, but certainly nothing too difficult.
There was plenty of water in Googs lake which is an excellent
campsite, and the climb up Mt Finke is
well worth the effort.
Enjoy!!

Thanks for all the responses. Mid-March probably isn't the best time to go. Hmm, I guess we will see what the temperatures are before starting out on our longer trip over east.

I was looking at the map at saw the
Wirrulla to
Kingoonya track might be an alternative to
Googs Track. Has anyone done that track recently?

Yep, it's fine, did it twice a month ago, nice easy drive.
I'm planning on heading over to
Ceduna, up
Googs track, across to
Kingoonya, down through
Lake Everard, coming out at Yantanabie then
home.
