Hema Maps and Garmin

I read somewhere (maybe here) that whilst Hema maps are not compatible with Garmin GPS some code or computer trickery can deceive Garmin into thinking Hema are OK to load. Anyone know of this? or am I dreaming.

Garmins use vector maps with an img extension. Hemas are raster maps.
