Hi, I am looking into fitting a custom boat loader atop of my 100 series LC. The loader is 40kg and the tinny will be about 90kg. I tow a Jayco outback eagle. And also quiet loaded on our trips with a draw system, fridge in the back along with three children.
Can anyone give any advise on the
suspension upgrade I should be looking at?
Thanks in advance

Josh,
We used to have an 80 series, that ended up with Black Widow drawers, cargo barrier, ARB roof rack(sometimes), single rear wheel carrier and rear 166L after market fuel tank. Fitted standard height H/D springs front and rear, and they stood up pretty
well, though the rear would sag a little when the tanks were full, and 3 kids on board, with all our gear. May have been a bit better with raised coils, but at the time didn't feel we needed them. Tried 2 brands of airbags with little success!
On a work vehicle we had, a 100 series made into dual cab, with 500mm extension in the chassis, we eventually fitted extra H/D raised rear springs, and it was better then. Used to cart at least 2 bikes, drum of Avgas and other stuff when we were mustering, and it often bottomed-out with only H/D springs all round. Got the extra H/D rears from TJM.......they are made by King Springs, in
Brisbane.

here is a thread from long ago about weights and alterations to a 100 ser Is
well worth reading with authoritative replies about limits etc

Adding at least 130kg on the roof may
well cause you to leave mum or the kids at
home as if you read the weight limits in that thread there wont be a lot left over after you add you and mum and the 3 kids Say 250kg. ballweight 120kg. the boat and loader130kg, that leaves 172 kg for what you want to add in the back.
What about the outboard & fuel for it..
Then there is a temptation to add stuff under the boat on the roof.
A very silly thing to do.

Hi Tom, some good reading there, Thanks. Don't worry mate I wouldn't put my families lives at risk by over loading my vehicle. That's why I'm doing the research prior. My children are only ages 2/3 and 6 and wife only weights 50kg some I should have a little mass to play with.
Cheers

The other thing to consider is that with the loader on you may not get the vehicle in a standard garage door. A friend put one on his cruiser and hs great trouble getting it in.

That's not a worry as I'll only be putting the loader on for our camping trips a couple of times per year.
Something to think about when pulling in the drive way though ??

G`day,
Have a look in the
Blogs for "Scrubby`s Boat Loader". A very cheap and simple method of loading a tinny.
If you do not have a winch fitted, a small 12 volt winch with synthetic rope, fitted to a portable bracket mounted on the bull bar will do the trick very easily.
Worth a look anyway.
Scrubby.
