Hubby and I are off a trip and will need to get our 4by serviced while travelling. Do members have personal experience with mechanics in both Broome and Alice Springs that you would recommend.

Sure there is a thread and this has already been asked but can't seem to find one.

Thanks in advance

There is a workshop in Broome in the Industrial Estate, before the town centre, first turn left after entering the industrial area.

Was recommended by the CP so I gave him a go.

He turned out to be one of those 'tourist gougers' charging $100 more than I had been charged previously on my trip from NSW, via Qld to Darwin and on to Broome.

You get a feel for what charges are due (rise and fall a little bit), and I had done a few services before Broome. Just oil and filter changes plus a wheel rotation.

I showed him previous receipts but he wouldn't have a bar of it. Said his work must be better than the others.

Dont use these guys

The reason I found this story is because I couldn't remember the name of the place I would want people to stay clear of in Broome and I was googling mechanical workshops and now I remember the name well. Minshull Mechanical. Aahhhh what a shonky place.

I was suffering from a starting problem in Broome in 2013 and had the RAA, RACV, RACW whichever it was over there come out to us and my fault was diagnosed as a badly worn fuel pump. They will order one in and it will be thousands and about 1 week with my car. The service guy was positive that what the problem was and it couldn't be anything else.

It turned out to be a faulty wire going to the fuel solenoid and I fixed it in the caravan park for nothing and the car is still going strong 2 years and 20,000kms later.

Well the short version is stay away from them or else your service may end up costing
you a lot more than you think.
