Reading this on the 2nd July, guess you have already left, half your luck. I have another month to wait, taking 5 rookies for the trip of their life. All my stories of the Simmo and all she had to offer were actually heard by a few who approached me to tackle the trip for a fourth time in four years. One word intoxicating ! Once you have completed the trip, you start planning the next, each time smarter and wiser (more toys) generator replaced with solar, tents replaced by swags, prepared meals replaced by the
camp oven, experience is a wonderful thing. I encourage each 4WD owner to tag along like yourself, prepare, plan and enjoy. Stop the vehicle approaching and say "hi" we are all out there for the same reason. This is a great country my friend your appreciation of her has only just begun. Please send in some photos and share the experience. Regards Member Mick (
Forbes).

Hi Mick, mate I think you need to adjust your computer clock, a day out by the looks of things. LOL.
All of this is certainly a learning experience.
Have been planning this trip since 05 when we travelled to
Birdsville with a camper trailer.
Its a bit different this time with only taking what we can fit in the Jackaroo.
A friend of
mine asked the other day "whats at the Simpson" and I replied the other side.
He couldnt figure it out and I think that sums up the difference between people who want to travel and see the
places that not a lot of us get to see and those that just want t go to one place and stay there for 2 weeks, each too their own.
Photos will be posted.
Cheers,
William
