The joys of traveling through an area before it has been loved to death. Even the roads back then looked in great condition, compared to the non stop corrugations of today.
Thanks Mick for another great read.
Cheers
Stephen

Thanks Stephen. The Eagle North-South Road (or the
David Carnegie Road as it is known to the south of the Gunbarrel these days) was only 2 years old at this time. There were still plenty of corrugations but some areas of the track were almost overgrown. The "Footy Oval" still had the original trees being used as posts, not the steel posts of today. A different time. No GPS, no Engel (they existed but were hideously expensive!), no Hema maps, bugger all off the shelf accessories for 4x4's and POWDERED MILK (I HATE powdered milk!)
Cheers Mick
