Comment: Docker River N.T. - Great Central Road

Hi Mick - Slowly getting to look at a few of your blogs - great stuff, and so many interesting and out of the way places. We were lucky that the NT side of the GCR had recently been graded when we came west in September. We were also told that the Docker River camp had been trashed; we checked it out, and their was no water so the toilets and showers were useless. Shame as it is a nice looking spot. We'd made better than expected time with the good road conditions, so we went on and stayed at Warakurna RH ready for the Giles weather station tour next morning. It was a good camp site. Motherhen

Yep, I was there exactly a year later in 2007 and it was wrecked. Spoke to the administrator at Docker about it and he said he couldn't get the locals interested. I had to shovel out a fire pit just to get enough room for our fire that night. The locals had driven over all the septic tanks taking short cuts home and collapsed them all and the bore was broken. Needless we didn't pay. A real shame. Clad you're enjoying the blogs. Mick
