Hi All,

Do Cooper A/T 70 Series tyres create heaps of noise or should I be looking at the drive train/bearings etc?

depends on how old your car is, km,s etc. I had a new set of tyres put on the commodore maaate and they made a wheel bearing resonating sound at around 80km/h. I took the car to holden and they even replaced one of the wheel bearings under warranty! It just turns out the tyres were the culprit!

No Matt they don't! I have Cooper A/Ts (75-series) and they're as quiet as H/Ts.
Have you been able to ascertain exactly where the "noise" is coming from?

I had a gearbox whine in 5th and a rumbling sound from the back of the vehicle through all gears. The nosie appeared to be more pronounced after the tyres were fitted but i don't believe it's them that is causing it. I want to rule out the tyres so I can get the repairs done under warranty.

I agree with ACH. My Cooper A/T's are quiet too.

Matt,
my AT's are quiet.
Unless you have something stuck in them, look elsewhere for your noise

Matt,

I had STs on a Pajero and they were noisy (like a whoooooooo noise). In fact when I picked the car up after the fitting I nearly took it back thinking something was wrong.

I know have them on a Patrol and they are quiet - perhaps I can't hear them over the diesel :-)

The STs make a noise like a diff whine at certain speeds.
