Great read Brian - the Simpson Crossing is high on my "must travel" list! It would be great to see some piccies (including the one of the Triton in the sand) or did you have too much fun to waste time taking pictures?!
I'm also curious about your 3-piece shovel because usually folding shovels are not strong enough for serious work but it sounds like you got a good one - does it fit in the car or you need a roofrack like most long handled shovels? Where did you get it from?

Timbo,
I was advised by the tour leader that a 4gig memory stick is wending its way to me from the other 3 vehicles, so hopefully will have some shorts shortly.
The shovel was purchased from the Melb 4 x 4 show & it screws together. THere were 2 on display that I saw, one with a red shaft & one with a yellow. I purchased the red shaft as it seemed more robust. It packed down to about a metre in length so was handy in the Prado as & when required, just a quick screw togther. I think that I have also seen the same or similar on ebay from a crowd in Qld.
