Have a 2 year old Hilux dual cab, which has just clicked up 60K km. A rubber hose that mounts on the top of steering box, running back to the p/s pump, burst the other day. Lost a lot of fluid(all of it?), so not sure how the pump is.

The hose is an "L" shape, or seven, if you turn it up the other way. We patched it up with 3/8" hose but it was a struggle to get it on the steel ends, must be a metric size. The original just fell to bits, once removed.

Considering the age of the vehicle, it might pay for others doing some remote travel to get a spare, or better still, replace it before you head for the Simpson, or wherever.

Hooroo...
Seen it all, Done it all.
Can't remember most of it.

Pretty poor show. Hope Tojo fixed it for free.
My power hoses are 12 years old & seem fine. Only problem seems to be sticky steering on a cold morning for the first 1-2 minutes. I Partially rectified this by draining as much of the fluid as possible and refilled with Nulon PS oil with ptfe & it has been better.
