Hi Dalb, just finished reading your very informative blog. I am hoping to tour around the NW of WA later this year and gained some ideas from your travels. I have a small, light-weight pop-top van but am a little worried that it might be too low for some of the rougher roads. I have been thinking of adding air springs to the van and my Navara D40. Any other ideas or suggestions?

G'day Bruce
Its really impossible to give good advice due to the fact that the roads, as i found them, were probably in quite different condition a month before, and again a month after, I went.
Having said that, unless there is unseasonal rain causing washouts, I think you could travel the roads in your present rig, with the BIG proviso that you are prepared to travel very slowly as required (eg. 10KPH in
places). I think corrugations would be your worst enemy, so any strengthening of your vehicle and trailer
suspension would be a bonus - I would not go off the bitumin without doing so. Suggest you also try some badly corrugated road somewhere before you go. Good luck.
Cheers Dalb
