G'day Rusty
I don't own a 100 series ~ but my 80 series turbo diesel Sahara pulls my Coromal Off road van at
well above legal speed limits ~ I use the cruise control to stay within the posted speed limits. All but seriously strong winds into the front/side of the cruiser have any real negative effect on the overall desired speed.
The fuel consumption is not overly critical as I carry everything that I require and the vehicle has a roof top camper fitted ~ towing the Coromal on a recent trip to
Albany, I averaged 600 kilometres for 120 litres of diesel, that works out at roughly 20 litres per 100 Kilometre, quite acceptable for my rig.
This is with the air conditioner on continuously.
I do however have a Denco inter cooler and Vortex 3 inch exhaust system(s) fitted to the 1HDT ~ Auto transmissioned Cruiser.
I also use synthetic oils ~ in the engine, transmission and diffs.

Hi Joe
Good to here your engine is pulling ok, The 1HDT is a stronger engine I think than the 1HZ,
Mine is a manual with no cruise control. I have a 3" exhaust system on order to see if this helps it breath better
