Great read Norm. Have been to Tassie a couple of times myself and visited a few of the
places you mention but, mostly due to time constraints, have also missed many of the things you've recommended - might have to put it back on the "must see" list! :-)
The view from Mt Amos (Freycinet NP), the drive around Lakes
Gordon & Pedder and the view from Cradle Mtn (and more recently, the large mountain near
Sheffield - can't remember the name now though) were the highlights for me, as
well as many of the short rainforest walks found on the road from
Hobart to
Queenstown and Horse-shoe Falls and
Russell Falls.

Thanks Timbo. I suspect the Mountain you refer to is Mt
Roland, between
Sheffield and Cradle Mt. It totally dominates the area. We had a few days of great
camping with it as a magnificent backdrop.
