Comment: Trip Planning - Choosing your travel companions wisely.

Enjoyed reading that Mick , I have now got into the habit of producing a document about any intended trip (after discussions) and seeing if others wish to come along on that basis.

One problem I have had is that , friends of friends get invited along with less committment , sometimes at last minute.

They are more of a problem than say people in our 4wd club who are not quite so close and easy to set the rules with.

Note sure if this is the right approach - but I have put in little options for those that miss the start time - e.g. we are leaving at 8am , should you not be ready we will be stopping at these co-ordinates for morning tea between 10-10:30 AM.
We also plan to camp at XYZ location !

Obviously some common sense must be applied , but we pretty well always head off on time , with a few cars scrambling to leave as we head out off site - but not out of radio range.

Robin I’ve heard some horror stories about club trips. Thankfully I’m only in the “Exploroz” club and by and large the people I’ve met along the way have been great. Having a “Trip Outline” is always a good idea and as you’ve said, common sense and a bit of flexibility. I always love the trips where you have the time to indulge in other options or change your intentions along the way. “Hey we like this place, lets stay a few more days” (it usually involves somewhere with a bit of water about for washing and showering LOL).
It’s all good fun otherwise we wouldn’t be doing it.

Cheers Mick
