Comment: Wiluna to Telfer via Gibson Desert (Photos + Route)

We didn't encounter the convoy altho there was another party of multiple vehicles (camped at well 6) which was doing a re-survey of benchmarks as part of a Curtin Uni student project.

They were the ones that guided us up the scarp to the cairn (M5). Which was a bit more strenuous than the recommended approach in Phil B's treknote, but which was much more direct and likely to be much more scenic with outstanding views all the way rather than being in the ridgetop mulga. It was great, we retirees outsprinting 20 YO students over the rocks! One poor guy looked like he was going to cark it until the leaders helped him through it.

It will be really interesting to see how the the TO's are going to stop access from the west. Where will they put the sign? There's multiple entries from the highway - various aopproaches from Ned's Ck, Mary Mia and Kumarina. If the sign is at the pastoral boundary interface then people are going to be totally p'd off having to turn around back to the GN Hwy. Good luck!!

We weren't approached by anyone re access but, earlier at about well 15, a party moving north told us that they had been challenged by a chap driving some TO elders around. Polite but firm was the approach, he said.

Cheers.
